Microsoft QUT eResearch Centre (MQUTeR)

Research, particularly in earth and bio sciences, is vitally important to the economy and community. Scientists are collecting more data than they can analyse and manage, and more data is available from a variety of sources than ever before. Research projects are increasingly multi-disciplinary and require collaboration between scientists across the world. The goal of this centre is to accelerate discovery in scientific research, particularly in bioinformatics and earth science, through smart software tools which enable the simple and rapid analysis of vast amounts of data and which support collaboration between scientists. The strategy of the Centre is to leverage Microsoft business tools as a basis for a smart tools virtual laboratory.

This centre is a collaboration between QUT and Microsoft Research (Redmond). It is also funded by the Queensland State Government under a Smart State Innovation Fund: National and International Research Alliances Program.
